Creation of healthy equity cult stressed

At the launch of the colour issue of The Dalal Street Investment Weekly, industry leaders stressed the need to nurture a "healthy equity cult" in India. Mr. V.B. Desai and Mr. V.B. Padode highlighted the massive untapped potential of the Indian market, noting that while there are 7 crore prospective investors, only 1.5 crore have actually invested. The speakers emphasized that bridging the communication gap between companies and the public is essential for market maturity. Padode also pointed out the publication's credibility by reminding the audience that his weekly had correctly predicted the share market crash of February 1986 .

The government of India have appointed a Controller and a Deputy Controller of Capital issues in place of the Examiner and Deputy Examiner, respectively.
